About Marava Cove
A feeling, not a place
Marava Cove grew from a love of paddling, being outdoors, learning and exploring, and connecting with others through shared experiences on the water.
The name isn't a physical place. There's no cove to drive to, no marina, no outfitter, and no rental counter. Marava Cove is about what we can find when we get on the water: discovery, enjoyment, confidence, connection, and a sense of belonging.
People come to paddling for all kinds of reasons, and there's room for all of them here.
Some are experienced paddlers. Some are learning. Some want to cover miles, while others are perfectly happy taking their time and seeing what's around the next bend.
Marava Cove is for people who enjoy where a paddle can take them, whatever that looks like for them.

A little about the creator of Marava Cove
I thought I should introduce myself too.
I'm Cory Potter, and paddling has become one of my favorite ways to spend time outdoors.
I grew up camping and spending time around the lakes and rivers of Ohio, so being around the water has always felt familiar to me. These days, I live in Southern Virginia and spend most of my paddling time on the lakes of Virginia and North Carolina.
I'm primarily a flat-water kayaker. I enjoy the exercise and the chance to explore, but a big part of what keeps drawing me back is much simpler. I like being outside, taking in the scenery, noticing things I would probably miss from shore, and seeing where the water takes me.
I've also found that paddling gives people a lot to share. We learn things from experience. We discover places worth telling others about. We figure out what works for us. We have great days on the water and occasionally days that teach us something. That's a big part of why I created Marava Cove.
